Week 6 (54 Miles)
Another low-mileage week, travelling along Highway 395 and ending at the small town of Lee Vining on the shores of Mono Lake. Disappointing time at the OMM, but learned a lot from my first experience of this tough challenge. Next time, I will be better prepared...Mon: 19 miles (16 miles exercise bike, 'cascades' programme, level 11; 3 miles cross trainer, 'Random' programme, level 12)
Tues: 8 miles (run, steady run with Abbey @ 7:25 min/mile pace)
Weds: 14 miles (exercise bike, 'intervals' programme, level 11. Supposed to run with DL group, but it was pouring with rain, so we wimped out)
Thurs: Rest day: had a massage and relaxed ahead of OMM
Fri: Another rest day, travelling up to Galloway for OMM
Sat: 13 miles run/walk. A minimum estimate of how far we actually travelled. It seemed like much more: terrible conditions; boggy ground, pouring with rain, low cloud & poor visibility. Got timed out before the last checkpoint and had to retire.
Sun: Rest day: travelling home with my tail between my legs. Will definitley be back next year for another go!
